Best Canon Rebel Memory Cards
The Canon Rebel range of cameras is hugely popular, not least because they cover every price range from budget to elite pro-level. Indeed, if you want a camera with certain specs and price in mind, there is definitely a Canon Rebel option available. However, Canon does not bundle in memory cards with its Rebel cameras.
Best Canon Rebel Memory Cards
One of the good things about Canon Rebel cameras is they are not taxing on the memory card. That means you don’t have to spend big money on the market-leading SD cards to get a good experience.
In our recommendations, we have included memory cards from industry leaders, and some lesser-known cards that combine performance with affordability.
SanDisk is one of the leading names in the SD card market, and for good reason. The company’s range of memory cards delivers optimum performance, although can be costlier than some alternatives. While there is a SanDisk Extreme Pro flagship and an entry-level SanDisk Ultra, the standard SanDisk Extreme offers a nice balance between the two.
Available in sizes from 16GB to 256GB, the SanDisk Extreme offers a 40 MB/s write speed, ensuring you can process images from your Canon Rebel to the card efficiently. In terms of reading speed, the Extreme delivers 90 MB/s, allowing rapid transfers when moving images from the card to a computer.
Looking at most entry-level to mid-range Canon Rebel cameras, the SanDisk Extreme is technically more powerful than what is needed. However, it is a bombproof SD card that is among the most popular for a reason.
Like SanDisk, when you buy a SD card for your Canon Rebel camera, Dot.Foto delivers a high-quality experience but at a lower cost. The company’s Class 10 range is available on Amazon for around a third of the equivalent sized SanDisk but still provides good performance for saving images and videos.
Thanks to its UHS-I technology, the Dot.Foto Class 10 can deliver data transfer speeds up to 95 MB/s, allowing the card to store, playback, and transfer files at high speed. It is particularly good at handling 1080p Full HD, 3D, and 4K videos.
Sony is an electronics giant perhaps not best known for its memory cards, but the Japanese company actually makes some of the best SD cards on the market. Sony Class 10 cards are amongst the best available, offering enviable performance that may even be overkill for the Canon Rebel range, depending on your needs.
The standout feature here is the UHS-II support, which provides transfer speeds of up to 260 MB/s and allows the card to write at up to 100 MB/s. Elsewhere, Sony’s memory cards fit well with outdoor cameras because they are waterproof and designed to work in varying the low and hot temperature.
Sony also provides a File Rescue software that provides security for users and helps them recover lost files if they have been damaged or deleted.
You may not have heard of SCT SD Cards, but the company’s Professional Class is the most popular memory card on Amazon. Part of the reason for success is its affordability. The SCT Pro Class 10 in its 64GB version is more affordable than the SanDisk Extreme 16GB, while it is also an excellent performer.
With consistent read and write speeds, the SCT Professional Class 10 is a good choice for Canon Rebel cameras, especially those at the lower end. However, it is worth noting that the card is not usually recognized by devices when first used. That means you may have to format it, so make sure you know how to do that before buying.
